Lets Build the new Economy, Together
A better world is neither inevitable, nor impossible.
I’m a humanitarian, entrepreneur, and activist building community economic power. I work on projects that expand who has power in the economy, specializing in increasing public and cooperative ownership of productive assets. If you are working on a project building a new, more inclusive economy and could use my help, let’s talk.
Expertise
I am best as a force multiplier to early stage projects. You have the idea but need to start building momentum. That’s where I come in. These are the things I’m good at and want to bring to your project:
Fractional COO/Strategy
- Let’s build the team and systems that turn an idea into an engine for change
Fundraising
- Who is interested in funding your work, and what do you need to show them to fund you?
Community Organizing/Mobilization
- Map who has power right now, and how we can build power to make change
Research
- I specialize in applied research; rigorous insights that inspire confident action
Recent Work
- Launched GiveDirectly’s office in Yemen as the first Country Director, grew the team from 0 to 27 staff, and distributed $5m+ to Yemen’s poorest households, all in the middle of active war.
- Campaigned with the California Public Banking Alliance to create a state-owned bank to unlock billions of dollars in cheap credit for affordable housing, green energy and small business loans.
- Built a venture-backed advertising platform as founding CEO for local businesses to attract new customers and grow their businesses.
- Writing about public ownership of privatized infrastructure in the UK, the failure of the financial inclusion industry, Yemeni entrepreneurship in NYC, and a bunch of other stuff.
